Silence has always been treated as a practice, not a pause.

In Indian culture, there is maun , an intentional vow of silence people take for days, weeks, sometimes months. Not to escape life, but to hear it more clearly.

We were taught that quiet is where clarity shows up.

That answers arrive when noise steps back.

This piece reminded me that doing nothing is often the most disciplined thing we can do.

This is really beautiful, Jeanette. I would love to be able to do this for a full week, as you do. I can't right now so I'm doing it in the moments that present themselves each day. I haven't gotten to the point where my inner dialogue quiets, but hopefully one day I'll get there. Thank you for sharing your lovely practice with us!

I would love to join your womens writing circle. I'm on Sydney time. Is there ant way it could be slightly earlier than 1 am. 11pm or even midnight would be okay, or after ten am in the morning, which is about 8 pm the previous night in the USA. I'd just love to join you live and talk to other writers, especially you.

I understand, Lisa. And just giving yourself a taste when you can will set you up for when it's possible. I'm glad it struck a chord wth you.
